ATF Q&A: Manufacturing

What are the requirements for a markings variance?

At least 90 days prior to the date you intend to manufacture firearms for which you want a marking variance, you should complete and submit to ATF an ATF Form 3311.4, Application for Alternate Means of Identification of Firearm(s) (Marking Variance).  The form should be completed exactly according to its instructions and submitted electronically for the quickest possible response.  Include all requested information and documentation to avoid delays in the processing of the request.
