PA Committee Passes Pro-Gun Bill, Votes Down Two Anti-Gun Bills

The Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee overwhelmingly voted down two gun control measures, with votes breaking largely along rural vs. urban lines.  The proposals would have banned modern sporting rifles and allowed municipalities to enact their own gun-control ordinances (in violation of the state’s preemption law). NSSF submitted written testimony in opposition to both bills.
The same committee voted to broaden the application of the commonwealth’s castle doctrine, allowing law-abiding citizens the right to protect themselves from intruders on a porch, deck or in a vehicle.
