HumaneWatch.org Sets the Record Straight on HSUS Money
Humanewatch.org has gone on the offensive with a full page advertisement, running in papers across the country, educating the public that the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) gives less than one-half of one percent of its budget to dog and cat shelters. Polling indicates that seventy-one percent of Americans believe HSUS is “an umbrella group that represents thousands of local humane societies all across America.”
Yesterday, HumaneWatch.org publicly offered to shut down the HumaneWatch blog, which features the ad, if HSUS pledges to donate 50 percent of its overall budget (which was over $130 million last year) to hands-on pet shelters. The organization is also planning to unveil a HumaneWatch billboard in New York’s Times Square later this week.
