NSSF Launches Hunting Works For Michigan

Michigan becomes newest state chapter to join award-winning Hunting Works For America program

LANSING, Mich.—The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is proud to announce that the Hunting Works For America footprint has grown again and now includes a state chapter in Michigan. The newly formed Hunting Works For Michigan partnership has over 100 partner organizations and is looking to educate the public and elected officials about the impact of hunting. Along with current state chapters in Arizona, Colorado, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Oregon, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and another recent addition, Alabama, Hunting Works For Michigan is the 14th chapter to be added to the ranks of the award winning program.

Hunting Works For Michigan launched today with a press conference at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce office in Lansing and is co-chaired by Rich Studley, president & CEO of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Mark Griffin, president of the Michigan Petroleum Association and Michigan Association of Convenience Stores, Jeff Poet, owner of Jay’s Sporting Goods, Dan Eichinger, executive director of Michigan United Conservation Clubs, Joy VanDrie, executive director of the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau and a co-chair of the Hunting & Fishing Committee of the Michigan Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau’s, and Jimmy Gretzinger, host of Michigan Out of Doors Television.

“It’s always great to grow our Hunting Works footprint, and Michigan’s natural beauty and tradition of outdoor sports is going to be a great new chapter,” said Chris Dolnack, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for NSSF. “Hunters in Michigan support over 34,000 jobs with their spending, total retail sales made by hunters are over $2.3 billion. Hunters spend this money all over the state, at businesses big and small, and that’s a story that needs to be told. Hunting Works For Michigan has set a launch record of over 100 partners who are ready to help tell our story.”

With over 1,800 partner organizations across the country, Hunting Works For America state chapters have become an overwhelming voice for the industry and are the go to resource for local media by providing statistics about the economic impact of hunting through its network of state-level stakeholders. Hunting Works For America state chapters also provide briefings to elected and appointed state officials, and outreach to non-traditional allies and the general public.

Hunting Works For America launched in 2010 with just three state chapters, Hunting Works For Arizona, Hunting Works For Minnesota and Hunting Works For North Dakota. Subsequent states have been chosen based on a number of factors including resident and non-resident hunter numbers as well as hunting’s role or impact on the state’s economy.

Becoming a member of Hunting Works For Michigan is absolutely free of charge so please visit www.HuntingWorksforMI.com  to learn more about how to become a partner and the program including leadership, partners, social media and involvement opportunities.
