Veteran Communications Expert Glenn Sapir Joins 2016 SHOT Show University Roster

speaker-glenn-sapirI am pleased to announce that a good friend of ours here at NSSF, and a former long-time staffer, will be presenting at the 2016 SHOT Show University. Glenn Sapir, who worked for NSSF for more than a decade, will be presenting “Publicizing Your Firearms Business” as part of the Veteran Retailer educational track.

Sapir began his professional communications career as assistant editor of Outdoor Life Magazine in 1970. Since then he has been an editor of Sports Afield, Field & Stream, Family Entertainment Center, Outdoor Bytes and New York Sportsman magazines. He has also authored the outdoor column for a large Gannett daily in the New York suburbs for 25 years. Until his retirement from the National Shooting Sports Foundation in 2014, Glenn served for 11 years as the Director of Editorial Services. In that capacity he edited the Range Report, coordinated the creation of NSSF’s Annual Review, wrote many of NSSF’s newsletters and contributed articles on behalf of NSSF on a regular basis to a dozen magazines. Glenn now freelances for select publications and consults for companies in the hunting and shooting sports industry. He has served as president of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, the New York State Outdoor Writers Association and the New York Metropolitan Outdoor Press Association. Glenn and his work have received numerous national awards. Among his educational credits is the study of publicity techniques at New York University.

During his presentation at the 2016 SHOT Show University, attendees will discover how to cultivate media contacts, work with local and regional media outlets and tourism departments, create press releases that get your business the right kind of attention and the benefits of using a professional media consultant.

The 2016 SHOT Show University will take place January 18, the day before the show opens.
