First Shots Startup Grant Program

2018-19 First Shots Startup Grant Program

PROGRAM PURPOSE

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has created a First Shots Startup Grant Program to assist ranges that want to begin hosting First Shots events as a way to attract new people to their facilities and grow their existing customer base.

What is First Shots?

First Shots is a program designed to introduce new shooters to shooting fundamentals and firearm safety, deliver a hands-on experience, and provide incentives to continue their shooting journey.  Whether your range offers paper/steel targets or clay targets, First Shots is for you!

Who May Apply?

Shooting ranges and shooting sports organizations who have never hosted a First Shots event will be given Grant award priority. Current and former First Shots host ranges are also welcome to apply.

How Much Grant Funding is Available?

A total of $100,000 will be available to qualifying NSSF Member ranges and shooting sports organizations to help cover the expenses related to your marketing and advertising efforts for First Shots events. Applicants may also apply a portion of the requested grant funds to acquire equipment (e.g., loaner or rental firearms) necessary to ensure the successful launch of your First Shots event offerings.

NOTE: Certain additional restrictions and requirements may apply to grant monies requested for equipment purchases.

The first 40 qualifying grant applicants are eligible to receive up to a maximum of $2,500 in startup grant funding from the NSSF. The amount of grant funding qualifying applicants may be awarded shall be at the sole discretion of NSSF. NSSF’s award decisions are final and non-reviewable.
