Retailer Education – April 2023

NSSF Participation in NICS Retailer Day Events

The FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Section is happy to announce our upcoming NICS Retailer Day event. This year’s event will consist of five separate weeks with three locations per week.

There will be one session per location from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Due to the size of the venue, seating for each venue is limited to 100 attendees and will be first come, first serve. The event is being provided at no cost, however, all associated travel costs are the responsibility of the attendee. The government will not be funding or reimbursing for this event.

The event is scheduled for the one, five–hour session, noted above and will not be live streamed or captured on video. The material being covered during each session will be the same, therefore, attendees are only permitted to attend one session. The agenda items include but are not limited to:

  • A presentation by NSSF® on Operation Secure Store, Don’t Lie for the Other GuyTM and information on a suicide prevention program for your store or range.
  • Information about the process of conducting a NICS background check along with recent and future enhancements.
  • Information provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on inspections, completion of the ATF Form 4473, specific state/local regulations, and new regulations.

This event is only open to FFLs and their employees.
