For those of you already operating a firearms range and especially for those looking to establish one from the ground up or add one to an existing retail facility, I am pleased to announce that Bryan “B.A.” Stear will be returning for a second year to speak at SHOT Show University. Traditionally held the day before SHOT Show Opens, SHOT Show University is the premier educational resource for today’s retailers and now includes a dedicated learning track for firearms range professionals.

Stear is the founding owner and operator of Shoot Indoors, and indoor firearms range located in the Denver suburbs. The range utilizes Stear’s TAPER-Range, a patent-pending range design system developed by Stear and which works to cut range equipment costs by significant measures. Also a successful range consultant, Stear, who holds degrees in mechanical engineering, astrophysics and engineering management (this last with a focus on range business planning), works to pair new range entrepreneurs with venture capitalists as a way to optimize business plans through data and demographic analysis.

Stear will be presenting the session “Starting a Range with a Small Business Administration Loan” as part of the Range Learning Track. During this session, attendees will learn how with a solid business plan and a small amount of collateral, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has loan programs can help new range operators overcome their biggest hurdle: funding. Stear will walk session attendees through his own SBA loan experience to point out crucial details at each step, including how to first find a participating bank lender, the overall process and required documentation.

The 2017 SHOT Show will be held January 17-20 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Room location for SHOT Show University will be announced at a later date. Registration to attend the 2017 SHOT Show and the full SHOT Show University agenda will be available early in Fall 2016.
