FN Provides Gearbox Giveaway in Support of National Shooting Sports Month
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that FN has donated a spectacular Gearbox Giveaway as part of the National Shooting Sports Month® celebration.
Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, FN is a manufacturer of handguns, rifles and shotguns. Personal protection aficionados, recreational target shooters and overall firearms enthusiasts utilize FN’s many fine products, and the company manufactures a number of firearms for law enforcement duty use. The company also currently produces several firearms under contract with the U.S. military.
The FN America Gearbox Giveaway, worth more than $5,500, includes:
- One FN SCAR 20S rifle — This rifle represents the latest in battle-proven technology based on FN America’s 7.62-caliber MK 17 and MK 20 SSR. Calibrated for long-range precision fire, the SCAR 20S gives the user the ability to engage targets nearing 800 yards with ease. The gas-operated piston design absorbs recoil efficiently to improve follow-up shots and maintain target acquisition. Lending further aid is the match-grade, two-stage trigger that breaks crisply at 3.5-4.5 pounds, a full-length MIL-STD 1913 rail, and a buttstock with an adjustable length of pull and cheek rest height.
- One FN 509 Tactical handgun — This pistol is an extension of the FN 509 family and features the company’s patented Low-Profile Optics Mounting System, which enables the platform to accept more than 10 commercially available miniature red dot (MRD) optics that co-witness with the suppressor-height night sights and remain adaptable to future optics releases without direct milling of the slide. The slide cap, for use when not shooting with an optic, has raised sight wings that protect iron sight alignment if the pistol is dropped or jostled and provide a textured ramp for racking the slide against a belt loop, pant pocket or boot. Completing the top end are an FN-signature 4.5-inch, cold hammer-forged, stainless-steel barrel with target crown, ½-inchX28 threads that accept most available 9mm suppressors and thread cap with integrated O-ring to prevent loosening during use. Two 24-round magazines, nearly identical in length to the pistol’s slide, are included.

National Shooting Sports Month, a celebration of the shooting sports, takes place throughout the month of August. Firearms ranges and FFL retailers across the country have listed hundreds of special events on the calendar at ShootingSportsMonth.org, which interacts directly with NSSF’s LetsGoShooting.org website, where the site’s users can then discover all the events near them.
