45th SHOT Show Opens at Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum

The world’s largest trade show displays equipment and products for target shooting, hunting, the outdoors and law enforcement.

LAS VEGAS — The 45th SHOT Show® opened today at The Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum and will span four days, running Jan. 17-20. The 2023 show marks the second year of its expansion, adding the Caesars Forum venue to The Venetian Expo to accommodate more than 2,500 exhibitors covering more than 816,000 net square feet of exhibit space.

The show anticipates returning to its pre-pandemic attendance levels. Professionals from the firearm and outdoor industry are here to view new, innovative products used for target shooting, hunting, outdoor recreation, personal defense and law enforcement purposes.

Owned and sponsored by NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, the SHOT Show is the largest trade show of its kind in the world. No firearms are transferred at the show. Consumers will see the new products unveiled at SHOT Show on retailers’ shelves throughout the coming the year.

The SHOT Show is a boon to the economies of Las Vegas and Nevada, with the show generating more than $88 million in non-gaming revenue. In America, the firearm industry has an economic impact of $70.5 billion and generates more than 375,000 jobs. Many states are well aware of the value of industry businesses to their economies. That value will be the topic of discussion at the NSSF-hosted Governors’ Forum, where governors will discuss the importance of the firearm industry in their states and their efforts to attract more firearm- and ammunition-related firms.

Education sessions for firearm retailers and shooting range operators are an important segment of SHOT Show. SHOT University™ offers classes on compliance, operations and much more. In the past, presenters have included representatives from ATF, FBI and the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Through its FixNICS program, NSSF has helped to significantly improve the FBI’s NICS database by adding the names of persons legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.

Yesterday, Industry Day at the Range had more than 200 exhibitors providing hands-on experience with firearms, ammunition, optics, vehicles and other products to more than 2,300 invited outdoor media members and buyers. NSSF is the title sponsor of the event. More than 2,000 members of the press cover the SHOT Show.

“SHOT Week” captures the full scope of the SHOT Show-related events. These include the NSSF/HAVA Golf Classic in support of Honored American Veterans Afield, a firearm industry-run charitable organization that helps the healing of disabled combat veterans through participation in hunting and the shooting sports.

The two-day Supplier Showcase is a show-within-a-show, with 539 OEM third-party suppliers meeting with exhibiting manufacturers and exploring their needs for extrusions, fabrication, fabrics, machinery, metal, plastics, software, logistical support and tools.

The show’s eXtra Pavilion in Caesars Forum features table-top exhibits where show attendees can meet new manufacturers, discover new products and identify new solutions for their businesses.

At a special ceremony, NSSF will announce three new inductees to its Hall of Fame to honor industry leaders for their contributions to industry and the heritage of target shooting and hunting in America. The NSSF Ken Sedlecky Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented as well.

The firearm industry is committed to promoting the safe use and secure storage of its products to help prevent accidents, thefts and suicide. NSSF’s Project ChildSafe® and “Have a Brave Conversation” suicide prevention programs will have booths, as will NSSF’s partners in safety—the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. NSSF works to keep guns out of the hands of prohibited persons at the retail level through its Operation Secure Store®, Don’t Lie for the Other Guy® and FixNICS® initiatives. These programs are collectively known as Real Solutions. Safer Communities.® and are helping to save lives.

The SHOT Show is the fifth largest trade show held in Las Vegas and attracts buyers from all 50 states and 115 countries. Some 13.9 miles of aisles lead to displays of firearms, ammunition, gun safes, locks and cases, optics, shooting range equipment, targets, training and safety equipment, hunting accessories, law enforcement gear, hearing and eye protection, tree stands, scents and lures, cutlery, GPS systems and other electronics, holsters, apparel, leather goods, game calls and decoys.
