NSSF Factsheet: "3D Printing" of Firearms

While there has been a lot of media attention given recently regarding the use of what has been termed “3D printing” technology to produce firearms, it is important to note that this technology, in itself, does not present a public safety problem. It presents a high barrier of entry with cost of production units, raw materials, and proprietary knowledge that criminals are not inclined to use - and will likely never use - 3D printing to produce firearms.
