Business Description

Center Mass, Inc. (CMI) has been in business for 30 years come April 2026. The owner is looking to retire. Founded in 1996 as a manufacturer and training company, we expanded into retail in 2012. We have developed an outstanding local reputation as a firearms retailer, indoor shooting range and training provider. We enjoy the same reputation nationally within the law enforcement and security industries (training, manufacturing & insignia).

CMI started in 1996 manufacturing a line of rifle rests for police snipers which eventually sold into the military and started the tripod shooting craze you know today. We are the home of America's SWAT Operator Insignia, The National Patrol Rifle Championships, and we were the first training entity in the country (pre-Columbine 1999) offering active shooter response training for law enforcement.

Our firearm training programs (pistol, patrol rifle, sniper) are renowned and have helped set the standards for many law enforcement agencies across the nation. Our instructors authored a white paper in the late 1990's that helped guide the nations LE agencies in their transition from shotguns to patrol rifles. Further, our clients also include nuclear facilities, hospital and corporate security departments, and most recently a very strong and growing base of church security programs. In addition, our Metro Detroit citizen based firearms training programs are very strong and bring in a constant stream of eager and loyal clients.

CMI is run by our VP and a staff of roughly 20 employees (5 full-time). In addition, we have a core of 15 contract instructors who teach our citizen, security, and law enforcement training programs at our location or wherever in the country a client needs our services. The business does not need the owner to operate on a daily basis. Its management team and staff are completely empowered and run the operation, day in and day out.

Roughly 95% of our online sales are for products that we manufacture. CMI has three online stores, Amazon, SWAToperatorUSA.com, and centermassinc.com. We manufacture complete lines of law enforcement related insignia, apparel and firearms accessories. All of these products are either patented, copywritten, or trademarked. This sale offers a substantial intellectual property portfolio (see below), as well as royalty bearing, transferable, licensing deals.

We use Coreware POS and integrated website / online store. This system allows us to market and sell our distributors’ inventory (guns & accessories) without having to stock the product lines. It also allows us to operate as a normal brick and mortar store that stocks and sells inventory. Coreware integrates with QuickBooks which our external Controller and CPA use for our accounting and tax purposes.
