NSSF Applauds President Trump’s Strategic Initiative Make America Beautiful Again 250
WASHINGTON, D.C. — NSSF®, the Firearm Industry Trade Association, applauds the launch of President Donald Trump’s strategic initiative Make America Beautiful Again (MABA) 250 launched by the MABA commission and chaired by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. The initiative sets the framework to increase hunting and public land access, which has been a pillar of NSSF’s focus for the federal government to ensure gun owners have access for outdoor recreation.
“NSSF has been laser-focused on working with the Department of the Interior to make public lands accessible for hunters and recreational shooters and emphasizing sustainable wildlife conservation goals for both current and future generations of outdoorsmen and women,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF’s Senior Vice President & General Counsel. “This commission, building on President Trump’s Make American Beautiful Again Commission Executive Order, is an opportunity to celebrate the conservation riches that have been achieved as America reaches its 250th birthday and resolve ourselves to ensuring that the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation remains the envy of the world.”
The MABA 250 commission’s strategy maps out the plan for the Department of the Interior, along with the Department of Agriculture, to expand and improve public access for outdoor recreation on public lands and waters. It also includes slashing bureaucratic barriers that have hampered conservation and restoration work that impede on the ability for hunters and recreational marksmen to participate in their pastimes.
The MABA 250 commission will build on the gains ushered in by President Trump in his first term — which included his signing of the Great American Outdoors Act — and, more recently, by Interior Secretary Burgum’s signing of Secretarial Order 3347, which opened lands managed by the Interior Department for hunting and recreational shooting, unless otherwise restricted by law, public safety or “resource protection.”
