Virginia House Passes Sunday Hunting

Sportsmen in Virginia saw a major victory today with the passage of House Bill 1237, which repeals the ban on Sunday hunting on private lands with written permission from the owner. Yesterday, opponents of Sunday Hunting tried to amend the bill to a local county option, but fortunately that amendment was defeated and today the bill was passed by a vote of 71-27. Now the bill heads to the Senate Agriculture Committee for consideration on Thursday. The NSSF-led Sunday Hunting Coalition of sportsmen’s groups, industry leaders and Virginia businesses is urging supporters to keep the pressure on to ensure un-amended passage of HB 1237 as it heads to a Senate committee vote.

Residents of Virginia should contact their state senator today to ensure that Sunday hunting becomes law. Take action.
