Victory in Virginia

Virginia Senate Bill 868, legislation that would have allowed farmers throughout the commonwealth to hunt outside of hunting seasons, at night and even on Sundays (which is currently prohibited to all other sportsmen in Virginia), was tabled in the Virginia House Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee by a vote of 17-3, all but assuring it is dead for the legislative session.

Ironically, this bill was supported by the Virginia Farm Bureau who recently voiced strong opposition to removing the restrictions on Sunday hunting for sportsmen.

NSSF, which released a legislative action alert encouraging all Virginia Sportsmen and hunters to oppose SB 868, would like to thank the many who flooded committee members with phone calls and e-mails regarding this bill.
