Royal Range USA Earns
NSSF’s First Five Star Range Rating

NEWTOWN, Conn.—The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that it has awarded Royal Range USA its Five Star rating for business excellence. This is the first range to be awarded a Five Star rating pursuant to NSSF overhauling its previous range assessment program in 2016.

Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Royal Range USA is a performance-oriented indoor shooting facility that places an emphasis on safety, integrity, education, empowerment and community outreach. The facility boasts 31 shooting lanes divided across three ranges: an 18-yard tactical range that features a touch-screen target activation system; a 15-yard pistol range with an iPad-operated target send and retrieval system; and a state-of-the art 57-yard rifle range—currently the longest indoor range in Tennessee —that can be utilized with nearly any rifle up to and including full-auto .50-caliber. In addition to the three firearms ranges, Royal Range also features a force-on-force training room that permits the use of simunition, a 20-yard archery range, a wide variety of rental handguns and rifles, a large-footprint retail shop, gunsmithing services and an extensive array of training courses.

“We were very impressed with the Royal Range facility,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Manager, Shooting Promotions. “From top to bottom this range has it all—safety, an incredible and knowledgeable staff, a focused business plan, outstanding shooting facilities and both the drive and ability to provide an exceptional customer experience. Royal Range sets the bar high for others, and for that reason we could not be more pleased to award its owners and staff our first Five Star Range rating under the new program.”

“Royal Range USA has a unique footprint, unlike any other in the state of Tennessee,” explained Frank Wilson, the facility’s Compliance Manager. “To be recognized by the NSSF with this Five Star award is phenomenal and it further solidifies our commitment to servicing our community and energizes our ethos as being the best there is for training, competition and recreational shooters. We are honored to be the first range in the country to receive this award.”

NSSF’s new Star-Rating Range Program, launched this past summer, places additional emphasis on health and safety compliance and a high customer satisfaction level compared to the previous program, while organically providing guidance for ranges seeking to improve their current facilities through their achievement of three- and four-star ratings. The program asks range owners and operators to self-assess their facilities and services through a comprehensive application process that details everything from their marketing plans and the cleanliness of the bathrooms to their OSHA and EPA compliance efforts, customer service and community outreach and education. Ranges that appear to meet the top criterion levels receive an on-site visit from NSSF staff for final evaluation, and those achieving three-, four- or five-star ratings will be reevaluated every three years as a way to help those facilities continue to improve and maintain a high level of excellence.
