Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever Partner with NSSF’s Project ChildSafe Program

NEWTOWN, Conn., and ST. PAUL, Minn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association of the firearms industry, announced today that Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, the nation’s leading habitat conservation organizations for pheasant, quail and other wildlife, have become promotional supporters of the Project ChildSafe® program, NSSF’s nationwide education initiative that promotes proper firearm handling and storage.

“We are an organization of responsible and ethical hunters, and a foundation of our work is upholding the standard of safety that NSSF and Project ChildSafe promote,” said John B. Linquist, national coordinator of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s Forever Shooting Sports program. “We are honored to partner with NSSF’s Project ChildSafe to help spread this important message of firearm safety to all of our members and their families.”

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s involvement with Project ChildSafe will help spread the program’s safety message of “Own It? Respect It. Secure It.SM” and “Store your Firearms Responsibly” through membership outreach, events, on websites and via social media.

“The number one way to help prevent firearm accidents is to store firearms responsibly when they are not in use,” said NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti. “We’re honored to have Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever join the community of conservation organizations partnering with us to share this important message.”

About Project ChildSafe

NSSF, the trade association of the firearms industry, launched Project ChildSafe in 1999 (prior to 2003 the program was called Project HomeSafe) as a nationwide initiative to promote firearms responsibility and provide safety education to all gun owners. Since 1999, the program has provided more than 36 million free firearm safety kits that include a gun lock to gun owners in all 50 states and five U.S. territories. That’s in addition to the more than 70 million free locking devices manufacturers have included, and continue to include, with new firearms sold since 1998. While helping to prevent accidents among children is a focus, Project ChildSafe is intended to help adults practice greater firearm safety in the home. More information is available at projectchildsafe.org.
