NSSF Staff Enjoy Annual Day at the Range
Yesterday afternoon NSSF held its annual staff outing at the Fairfield County Fish & Game Protective Association. While most of our staffers are avid shooters and/or hunters, several staff members tried something new. Our dynamic membership duo, Bettyjane Swann and Samantha Hughes discovered a hidden talent for shooting plates on the handgun range and Luke Lacki, one of our crack IT staff, was voted most improved shooter thanks to his newly refined shotgun skills.
The beautiful weather and camaraderie added up to a great day. And seeing the big smiles when a steel plate fell or a clay target fragmented reminded me once again why our industry continues to grow. Because shooting is fun! Furthermore, the targets don’t care how strong, weak, tall, short, fast or slow you are, making recreational shooting accessible to virtually everyone.
It’s not uncommon to hear industry friends lament that they used to shoot a lot more before they got into the industry. And while there’s some truth to that, it’s also true that we make the time to do the things that are important to us.
Research shows that millions of Americans would accept an invitation from a friend or family member to try target shooting. When you consider that nearly half the participants in our First Shots events become an avid shooter (and customer), it makes a lot of sense for all of us in the industry to make the time to take someone shooting.
