NSSF Five-Star Rating Goes to Keystone Shooting Center
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that it has awarded its highest Five-Star rating for range excellence to Keystone Shooting Center located in Mars, Pennsylvania.
Though just two years old, this spotless, modern facility on the outskirts of Pittsburgh is quick to impress. The veteran-owned and -operated indoor range houses a robust 24 lanes that accommodate handgun fire and rifle ammunition up to .50 BMG. A tactical bay with an advanced target retrieval system and strobe lighting is a gathering place for both local law enforcement undergoing training and area action-sport shooters looking to up their game and skill levels. An ample supply of rental firearms, including a selection of full-autos, gives both walk-ins and members a chance to try something new, and that in turn drives online and in-store sales and a thriving firearms transfer business.
Keystone Shooting Center offers a variety of amenities designed to please shooters of all experience and interest levels. Private shooting bays and meeting rooms, for example, are in frequent use by the range’s corporate and VIP members, and these well-appointed spaces are also frequently booked by outside companies, organizations and individuals for charity and team-building events, holiday parties and other celebrations. An on-site gunsmith is another benefit area shooters enjoy, as is the well-rounded calendar of firearms training classes and personal instruction. An active indoor shooting league and a number of specialty tournaments keep the entertainment value high and encourage the range’s customers to become more involved in the shooting sports.

NSSF’s highly respected Star-Rating Range Program works to encourage ranges of all sizes and locations to excel. Applying for a rating requires answering a comprehensive questionnaire and business owner self-evaluation of the facilities, staff, community outreach and other criteria. Ranges that appear to meet the criteria for Four- or Five-Star rating receive an on-site evaluation by NSSF staff. NSSF Member ranges that meet a Three-Star rating are recognized for being a part of the Star-Rating range family and are provided guidance to improve their facilities and achieve the higher two ratings.
