New Jersey’s RTSP Range Earns Second Five-Star Rating

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that it has awarded RTSP’s new range in Union, New Jersey, with its highest Five-Star Rating for range excellence.

RTSP Union New jersey 5 StarRTSP renewed its Five-Star rating in July 2018 for its first range-retail location in the Morris County town of Randolph. The Union location, in neighboring Union County, opened late that same year. The new location boasts 35,000 square feet overall, including 9,000 square feet of retail space, the range’s Freedom Café and four separate indoor shooting ranges. The ranges accommodate 40 individual shooting ports with distances of 25 and 50 yards, and a vast rental firearm inventory helps to keep those lanes filled from open to close. A SIG Sauer Elite Dealer, RTSP serves a wide variety of active target shooters with a robustly stocked, eye-catching retail center, a comprehensive instruction curriculum, and regular USPSA and Glock Sport Shooting Foundation matches.

“We were tremendously impressed with RTSP when visiting its Randolph location, and arriving at the decision to award our Five-Star rating to that facility came without hesitation,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Retail and Range Business Development. “When the range’s owners told us they had really uncovered a hotbed of passionate target shooters in a state that has some of the most stringent firearms regulations and were planning to open a second location, we expected the new facility to be everything the first range is and more. We were not disappointed.”

“RTSP spent eight years in Randolph building a brand of which we are very proud,” said Rick Friedman, RTSP’s CEO.  “Having been born and raised in Union County myself, it had always been a goal to bring the RTSP brand back to my roots. I am extremely proud of our staff members whose dedication and hard work helped us achieve the NSSF’s highest Five-Star rating.”

NSSF’s highly respected Star-Rating Range Program works to encourage ranges of all sizes and locations to excel. Applying for rating requires answering a comprehensive questionnaire and business owner self-evaluation of the facilities, staff, community outreach and other criteria. Ranges that appear to meet the criteria for Four- or Five-Star rating receive an on-site evaluation by NSSF staff. NSSF member ranges that merit a Three-Star rating are recognized for being a part of the Star-Rating range family and are provided guidance to improve their facilities and achieve the higher two ratings.
