ATF Q&A: 4473 Forms

Would you need to submit a form 3310.4 for the security officer picking up multiple company handguns? Also, when a designated employee picks up the company firearms, do we check out those firearms to that individual or the company in our bound books?

Yes, all multiple sales or transfers of pistols and revolvers must be reported to ATF on Form 3310.4. When the transferee/buyer of a firearm is a corporation, company, association, partnership, or other such business entity, an officer authorized to act on behalf of the business must complete Section B of the form with his/her personal information, sign Section B, and attach a written statement, executed under penalties of perjury, stating: (A) the firearm is being acquired for the use of and will be the property of that business entity; and (B) the name and address of that business entity. Since the individual receiving the firearms has completed a Form 4473 the firearms would be logged out to that individual including their address (unless the FFL enters a transaction number on Form 4473). A note could be added in the A&D record naming the company on whose behalf the officer or employee received the firearms for.

Compliance Webinar: Hot Topics from the NSSF Compliance Hotline

NSSF operates a Hotline as a service for its members through which you can ask any ATF compliance questions. And not just ATF questions but also OSHA, EPA, and import/export questions. The goal of the Hotline is to respond to the caller as soon as possible. The number is 855-FFL-NSSF (335-6773). Many NSSF members have never used this service. If that is you, we encourage you to give it a try when a compliance question comes up. We think you will be glad you did.

During this webinar, NSSF compliance consultants Judy LeDoux and Wally Nelson discussed common hotline questions from 2023 and answered them in detail.
