Facebook’s “See First” Function Can Boost Your Customer Interaction

By Michelle Scheuermann, owner of BulletProof Communications

Facebook "See First" FunctionAre Facebook’s algorithms getting you down? Reports say it will only get worse as time goes on — and it’s fairly safe to assume that’s double for those of us in the gun and outdoor space. But there is one nifty tool you can use to ensure your posts are always seen by your fans, Facebook’s “See First” function.

“See First” allows Facebook users to prioritize seeing the posts of certain pages at the top of their news feeds. These are the posts of the companies and people that hold the most interest to an individual, those announcements and news items someone doesn’t want to miss. I have not witnessed a limit on implementing this functionality as of yet.

This feature is great as a consumer or end-user function, but as a business, how do you get your fans to implement the “See First” function on your page and make you their top priority? With SHOT Show just around the corner, the opportunity to connect your followers with new products and news further sells the point and the following sample post is a great way to get started:

  • Want to make sure you get the latest news and product buzz coming out of the SHOT Show?
  • Visit our Facebook page and hover over the “Following” button near the cover photo.
  • You’ll see a variety of options, including the “See First” button.
  • Select “See First” and then all of our posts will be shown first in your feed!!

If you decide to implement this awesome tool, it is important to note that you shouldn’t spam your fans with multiple posts throughout the day. The last thing you want to do is for them to remove you from “See First.” My rule is to post every 24 to 36 hours with content that ranges from actually advertising something to those sprinkled with entertainment (re: funny), videos and industry news.
