Susan Baier

Susan Baier is the Audience and Marketing Strategist at Audience Audit. As such, she utilizes research and helps marketers understand what's going on in the minds of prospects and customers, and how to use that information to craft targeted, efficient and effective marketing programs for their organizations. She has worked in marketing strategy and research for more than 30 years for brands such as Dial, Conoco-Phillips and Circle K. Her company, Audience Audit, has conducted custom attitudinal segmentation research for clients including Gap, Nestlé, Kona Grill, Infusionsoft, Jayco, Tufts University, AT&T, Pella and more. She has also recently concluded an attitudinal segmentation study of NSSF’s membership. Susan has been featured on podcasts including Jay Baer’s Social Pros, Build a Better Agency, Smart Agency and Duct Tape Marketing. She regularly speaks at marketing conferences including INBOUND and Content Marketing World. In her spare time, she hangs out with her family, fishes, knits and enjoys a good bourbon.

Jim Curcuruto

Jim Curcuruto is currently serving as the director of research and market development for National Shooting Sports Foundation. With NSSF since 2009, Jim has worked tirelessly to provide insights to NSSF members and the industry to gain an improved understanding of consumers resulting in increased sales and participation in hunting and target shooting. His work has been referenced hundreds of times in corporate annual reports, newspapers, television and other media. He has served as an expert witness in several high-profile state and federal court cases working to retain the rights of gun owners. Jim is also responsible for a variety of NSSF’s R3 efforts and has developed several strategic partnerships and programs such as NSSF’s Mentor Initiative and Partner with a Payer with a goal to scale the R3 model and increase overall participation. Growing up in Putnam County, NY, Jim spent a majority of his youth fishing for largemouth bass and brook trout and hunting ruffed grouse and whitetails and now enjoys spending his time passing on these traditions to his sons.

Rorke T. Denver

Commander Rorke T. Denver has run every phase of training for the U.S. Navy SEALs and led special-forces missions in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and other international hot spots. He starred in the hit film Act of Valor, which is based on true SEAL adventures. His New York Times bestseller, Damn Few: Making the Modern SEAL Warrior, takes you inside his personal story and the fascinating, demanding SEAL training program. In his second book Worth Dying For: A Navy SEALs Call to a Nation, Rorke tackles the questions that have emerged about America’s past decade at war–from what makes a hero to why we fight and what it does to us. Denver is the founder of Ever Onward, a fresh, new brand designed to use Navy SEAL principles to call leaders to take action, to suffer, and to be bold so they can perform at their highest levels. He is a highly-sought after speaker to companies and organizations and provides numerous innovative products and services to help teams and individuals live and perform at higher levels. Denver is an honor graduate of the United States Army Ranger School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Syracuse University, where he was an All-American lacrosse player, and captain of the varsity lacrosse team. He earned a Master’s Degree in Global Business Leadership from the University of San Diego.

Chris Dolnack

With 30 years of industry sales and marketing experience, Dolnack leads NSSF’s marketing and sales operations, branding, membership, business development, partnership marketing, customer recruitment and retention, and the industry’s largest trade show, the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show. As the leader of marketing operations, he is responsible for the company’s media and industry relations, marketing communications and has been named among the Top 100 CMOs by Social Media Marketing and CEO World magazines. His experience includes iconic brands such as Colt, Smith & Wesson, Fenwick, Woodstream and Berkley. Dolnack is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, International Association of Exhibitions & Events and Public Relations Society of America. A lifelong hunter and shooter, he is a Life Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association, certified NRA Instructor and serves on the Board of Directors of Honored American Veterans Afield, National Deer Alliance and Sportsmen’s Alliance.

Jon Dore

Jon Dore is Vice President and Founding Partner at Reach3 Insights. Jon is an innovative researcher and determined thought leader in the insights industry. Working the entirety of his career in supplier-side organizations such as Ipsos, Vision Critical and now Reach3 Insights, Jon has partnered with some of the world’s largest brands in the CPG, M&E, technology and retail industries to execute a wide variety of pioneering research initiatives. On top of that, Jon has demonstrated a passion for behavioral science and the application of non-conscious measurement techniques, and continually blogs on the subject for the betterment of the research community.

Mark Damian Duda

Mark Damian Duda is the founder and executive director of Responsive Management. Mark holds a master’s degree with an emphasis on natural resource policy and planning from Yale University. He has conducted more than 1,000 studies on how people relate to the outdoors and is the author of four books on wildlife and outdoor recreation, including The Sportsman’s Voice: Hunting and Fishing in America and Watching Wildlife. Mark is a Certified Wildlife Biologist® whose research has been upheld in U.S. District Courts, used in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at major natural resource and outdoor recreation conferences around the world. For seven years, Mark served as a columnist for North American Hunter and North American Fisherman magazines. Mark has been named Conservation Educator of the Year by the Florida Wildlife Federation and National Wildlife Federation, was a recipient of the Conservation Achievement Award from the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and was named Wildlife Professional of the Year by the Virginia Wildlife Society. He also received the Conservation Achievement Award in Communications from Ducks Unlimited and an award from the Potomac Ducks Unlimited Chapter for his contributions as a researcher and writer. Mark was also honored as Qualitative Researcher of the Year by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and received the 2016 Distinguished Leadership Award from the National Rifle Association. Mark is an avid hunter, sport shooter, angler, boater, and birdwatcher.

Nancy Giordano

Described as endlessly optimistic, Nancy is a strategic futurist with a drive to help enterprise organizations and visionary leaders transform to meet the escalating expectations ahead. Paula Iwanski

With over 20 years’ experience in niche, lifestyle markets, Paula Iwanski is a knowledgeable and driven marketing and sales professional. Having worked in industrial marketing for Fortune 500 companies such as Olin and Loctite/Henkel, she transitioned to the shooting sports industry in 2002, joining Savage Arms as their Marketing Services Manager. In 2006, Iwanski moved over to the sales side, joining Bonnier Corporation to represent Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and SHOT Business magazines. She joined FMG Publications as Advertising and Marketing Manager in 2017, representing the brands American Handgunner, GUNS and Shooting Industry. Ms. Iwanski utilizes her expertise in marketing and sales to provide a solutions-based approach. Her results-driven process established her as one of the top sales producers winning numerous national sales awards and being recognized as a top sales person for Bonnier internationally. As a marketer on the sales side, her collaboration with major consumer brands, as well as those in key vertical markets, has provided her with a big picture view providing a different approach to marketing.

Carey Lohrenz

Carey Lohrenz knows what it takes to win in one of the highest pressure, extreme environments imaginable: in the cockpit at Mach 2. As the first female F-14 Tomcat Fighter Pilot in the U.S. Navy, having flown missions worldwide as a combat-mission-ready United States Navy pilot, Lohrenz is used to working in fast moving, dynamic environments, where inconsistent execution can generate catastrophic results. The same challenges are found in business: markets change, customer needs evolve and if you do not adapt quickly your company is at risk. Carey is a powerhouse in the field of delivering engaging Leadership, High Performing Organizations and Diversity Training that directly impacts a company’s ROI and bottom line. Her experience in the all-male environment of fighter aviation and her ability to pass on the Lessons Learned in her career allow her to deliver insight and guidance from a credible platform on Women’s Leadership Issues. Carey graduated from the University of Wisconsin where she was a varsity rower, also training at the pre-Olympic level. After graduation, she attended the Navy’s Aviation Officer Candidate School before starting flight training and her naval career. She is currently working on her Master’s in Business Administration in Strategic Leadership.

Jon Patton

Jon Patton has been producing gun content for 10 years and launched Patton Media and Consulting LLC in early 2015. Patton Media and Consulting specializes in influencer marketing built on years of strong relationships with some of the top creators in the industry. His media outlet called The Gun Collective launched in June 2015 and has quickly become one of the staples of news, information, and entertainment in gun media. His approach to content creation is simple but effective. Keep it info-packed, fast paced and fun. The Gun Collective’s videos have been seen by hundreds of millions of eyes, having grown an audience of over 700,000 fans across all his platforms.

Chuck Rossi

Chuck Rossi has worked as a software engineer for 30 years in Silicon Valley and has held engineering and management positions at IBM, Silicon Graphics, VMware, Google, and Facebook. After 10 years of leading Facebook's software release infrastructure team, he worked with Facebook's Policy and Operations teams to help clarify and improve policies related to firearms and accessories for users and advertisers. Chuck is a USPSA and 3-Gun shooter, an NRA Certified Instructor, an NROI certified Range Officer, and leads corporate team building shooting events. Through the United States Digital Service, he's worked as a consultant at the FBI's CJIS division, working on the Uniform Crime Report and NICS 2.0.

Mark Schaefer

Mark Schaefer is a globally-recognized keynote speaker, educator, business consultant, and author. His blog {grow} is hailed as one of the top marketing blogs in the world. Mark has worked in global sales, PR, and marketing positions for more than 30 years and provides consulting services as Executive Director of Schaefer Marketing Solutions. He has advanced degrees in marketing and organizational development; holds seven patents; and is a faculty member of the graduate studies program at Rutgers University. For three years, Mark studied under the late Peter Drucker (a world-renowned consultant and author, hailed as the founder of modern management). Mark is the author of six best-selling marketing books: KNOWN, Social Media Explained, Return on Influence, Born to Blog, The Content Code, and The Tao of Twitter – named the best-selling book on Twitter in the world. Return on Influence was named to the elite list of top academic titles of the year by the American Library Association, which declared it an “essential” and “pathfinding” book. The Content Code was named one of the top five marketing books of 2015 by INC. Magazine.

Rob Southwick

Rob Southwick founded Southwick Associates in 1990. Southwick Associates provides the outdoor and shooting sports industry with market analyses and assessments to help businesses understand where they stand and how to grow. Working closely with the NSSF and its member companies, Southwick Associates has employed a new, unique approach to profiling firearms consumers in a way that helps the shooting sports industry improve product offerings, communications and, ultimately, sales. Based in Fernandina Beach, Florida, the firm boasts a staff of 12 highly educated, qualified and experienced statistical experts, all of whom are dedicated to helping the shooting sports industry develop a strong future.

Our CMO Summit Emcee: Michael Villani

Michael Villani is an actor/voice over artist in Los Angeles and has been since graduating from the University of Missouri with a Broadcast Journalism degree in 1970. He co-starred with Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer in Up Close and Personal, was featured in Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones and Wag the Dog with Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman. He co-starred as Merv Griffin in the Milos Forman film, Man On The Moon, the Andy Kaufman story, starring Jim Carrey, as well as appearing in Jim’s blockbuster Bruce Almighty. He was also featured in The Girl Next Door and can be seen with Jamie Foxx and Beyoncé Knowles in Dreamgirls. Mike’s television credits include co-starring roles in hits like Criminal Minds and CSI. Mike was the announcer for the Hollywood Film Festival for 18 years, and was the Venue announcer for several venues at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, the Winter Olympics, in 2010, the Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, 2014 and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. In May, 2016 he was in Orlando, Florida, announcing at the Invictus Games. He also worked the Wounded Warrior Games at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he announced the Opening and Closing Ceremony and the Sitting Volleyball competition. He’s the Voice of the Anaheim Police Department, where he’s been a Technical Reserve for the past 38 years. He was honored with the Reserve Officer of the Year Award for 2016. Mike is also the Master of Ceremonies for many charitable events and golf tournaments in and around Southern California.
