Zero to Hero: NSSF’s Research Making Headway
It hardly seems that a decade has passed since NSSF launched its fledgling research in 2004. At that time, NSSF subscribed to four research reports generated by other sporting-goods industry associations. In the ensuing years, NSSF’s research offerings have grown into a powerful member benefit that is second to none.
From those four repackaged reports, NSSF now offers more than 30 organically produced reports focused on the challenges faced by our industry. The NSSF Industry Reference Guide is a one-stop resource for industry marketing executives that tracks consumer participation and industry sales data over a decade to help member companies spot trends and identify emerging markets. In addition, we currently offer 22 Industry Intelligence Reports that delve into specific market trends, such as cowboy action shooting, defensive pistol, hunting, retail and shooting range business plans and metrics, modern sporting rifles and youth shooting participation, along with monthly NICS reports.
NSSF’s research has become one of the most valued member services, along with our government relations efforts. We regularly seek input from members so that we can address burning issues to help grow the market for hunting, shooting sports, home defense and tactical products and host an industry research forum at the SHOT Show each year. If you aren’t using NSSF research in your strategic planning or product planning, you’re missing the boat.
I encourage all NSSF members to take advantage of the substantial member discounts, and, if your company is not an NSSF member, I encourage you to join today and avail yourself of the treasure trove of information that your industry trade association has available to you to help you make data-based decisions for your company.
