Texas Gun Experience Earns NSSF Five-Star Range Rating
GRAPEVINE, Texas — NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, has awarded Texas Gun Experience its Five-Star rating for range excellence. Five stars is the highest rating in NSSF’s star-rating system, which evaluates shooting facilities on appearance, management, shooting sports development and amenities.
Located in Grapevine, Texas, within the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, Texas Gun Experience is owned by two military veterans—the Stanyer brothers, Jared and Joseph. Jared served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was an aviation supply/logistics officer, and Joseph served in the U.S. Army as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot. As kids in the mid-1980s, the brothers worked in their father’s gun shop. The store grew over time, and in 2012 Jared and Joseph purchased their dad’s business and rebranded it DFW Shooting Sports. The next iteration—Texas Gun Experience–came out of the desire to add a shooting range, and in 2019 Jared and Joseph opened their 35,000 square foot, retail-range facility to serve a fast-growing customer base.
“This facility is truly first class, offering everything to keep gun owners active and to help get new people started,” said Zach Snow, NSSF Director, Member Development. “They keep their customers/members engaged through an array of fun events and special promotions that are not to be missed, such as Full Auto Fridays, and their retail floor is very thorough. It’s easy to see why customers keep on returning to Texas Gun Experience.”
The range accommodates handgun, rifle and shotgun shooting on 25- and 50-yard lanes. An extensive firearm rental inventory allows customers to enjoy the range even if they don’t own a firearm yet or for existing owners to try out different models.
A signature experience at Texas Gun Experience is taking advantage of their rental full-auto guns program. Customers can shoot machine guns from different eras, including a 3,000-round-per-minute Minigun or the hand-crank Colt Bulldog Gatling gun. Special package pricing for shooting one, three or five types of full-auto guns allows you to customize your experience or provide a thrilling gift to someone.
The retail shop almost certainly has the firearm, ammunition, gun parts, shooting supplies and accessories customers are looking for. There is even a dedicated area for knife sales—The Blade Bar! The retail shop buys guns for cash, trade or store credit.
Training and education are a big part of Texas Gun Experience’s offerings and one that aligns with the vision of the owners and staff to encourage skill development, safety and readiness. Texas Gun Experience Firearm Training Academy offers a full range of courses, including U.S. Concealed Carry Association handgun, rifle/carbine and shotgun classes, carry classes and specialty classes for youth and the topics of home defense, situational awareness, firearm maintenance and others.
Texas Gun Experience likes events. It can accommodate parties and celebrations, of course, but the truly creative offering for 2023 brings favorite movies to life with thrilling competitions, prizes and food; themes range from iconic gunslingers of the wild west to secret agents and 1930s gangsters—and the best part is that the fun is for shooters of all skill levels.
There are membership packages to suit just about every taste. Benefits include being able to call ahead to reserve shooting lanes, unlimited range time, guest passes and discounts for use in the retail shop, on rental guns and for training classes.
Need to store your firearms and equipment offsite? Texas Gun Experience offers safe rentals in a climate-controlled environment and with access secured by a custom PIN.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have earned the NSSF’s Five-Star Rating. This rating exemplifies our commitment to being the best resource for firearms, training and more within our community. It’s an honor to receive it and also confirmation of all the planning that went into creating Texas Gun Experience to make it a quality, full-service facility for our customers and a fulfilling place to work for our staff and for us,” said Jared Stanyer.
Clearly, Jared and Joseph Stanyer have put a great deal of thought and care into Texas Gun Experience. They’ve come a long way from the little shop their father started, and their customers are benefiting from the dream they had of developing this first-class facility, which now has earned NSSF’s Five-Star Range designation.
