Support to Safeguard Traditional Ammunition Grows

The number of congressmen co-sponsoring legislation (H.R. 1558) to clarify the longstanding exemption of ammunition and ammunition components under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 has been steadily rising and now stands at 75, with eight new co-sponsors added just last week alone. Also known as the Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Protection Act, this bipartisan legislation is being championed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry. Anti-hunting groups have launched repeated attacks aimed at banning traditional ammunition under the TSCA. As such, NSSF considers passage of this bill to be a legislative priority.

Companion legislation (S. 838) in the Senate has the support of 13 members.
