Small Business Expert Tom Shay Added to 2016 SHOT Show University Lineup

I am happy to announce that one of SHOT Show University’s most popular speakers has agreed to once again headline one of the sessions at the 2016 event. Well-respected as an expert on what it takes for small businesses to stay progressive and compete successfully against big-box stores, Shay is a perennial favorite at University thanks to his fresh takes on the laws, regulations and trends affecting today’s industry.

Founder of the company Profit Plus, a marketing consultant firm focused on small business success, Shay has more than a quarter-century of front-line retail experience in a family owned business and is a fourth-generation business owner. Through Profit Plus he conducts dozens of seminars every year across the country, advising clients on topics such as staffing, business strategy and financial management. He also works with manufacturers and wholesalers, educating those businesses about the challenges retailers today face, so that each component of the pipeline that ultimately delivers to the consumer can better understand the needs of the others.

This year Shay will be presenting sessions in two of SHOT Show University’s four learning tracks. His first presentation, “Promotion – 10 Ways to Impact Your Business Today,” part of the New Operator learning track, will provide retailers 10 replicable promotion plans that can drive store traffic and increase sales and profit margins. “Key Business Metrics, a part of the Veteran Retailer learning track, will tackle data drill-down and ways to focus on key factors that can help head off a downturn or seize an opportunity for growth.

The 2016 SHOT Show University, the premier event for today’s firearms retailers, will take place January 18, the day before the show opens. Four educational tracks within the University are designed to allow retailers from startups to veteran the opportunity to engage with a host of well-regarded business experts speaking on laws and regulations affecting their businesses, opportunities for growth and the latest in technology.

Registration for the 2016 SHOT Show and SHOT Show University are now open. Following last year’s success with ticket restructuring, once again NSSF will offer its Premium Retailer members one complimentary ticket to SHOT Show University. Tickets for any other NSSF member level and additional tickets for Premium Retailer members are $250. Non-NSSF members are welcome to attend, with a ticket price of $500. This event is always a sell-out, so retailers are urged to complete their registration for the show and SHOT Show University as soon as possible.
