NSSF’s First Shots Big City Tour
Coming to Seattle, Portland Regions

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that its newest First Shots Big City Tour will be held July 15-17 in Oregon’s Portland and Seattle areas.

Developed by NSSF to provide a foundation in the safe handling of firearms and basic target shooting skills, as well as introduce novice shooters to range facilities and shooting instructors in their area, First Shots events involve nearly two hours of classroom safety instruction, followed by more than an hour of live-fire work on the range. Events are designed to accommodate student numbers that ensure each participant receives individual attention. Big City Tours take that concept a step further, by enlisting numerous ranges in a region, dozens of instructors and often hundreds of students who, through their participation, gain a greater appreciation for all their area has to offer when it comes to shooting sports resources.

“We’re thrilled to be holding a Big City Tour for the first time in the Pacific Northwest,” said Tisma Juett, NSSF Manager, First Shots Program. “We’ve lined up seven ranges across the cities of Portland and Seattle, all of which are dedicated to encouraging novice shooters to learn more about not just firearms safety, but also the support they can expect as they then go on to explore all the shooting sports have to offer.”

Ranges participating in the First Shots Big City Tour Pacific Northwest include Bellevue Gun Club and Champion Arms in the Seattle area, and Threat Dynamics, LLC, The Place to Shoot, Clark County Gun Club, SafeFire Indoor Shooting Ranges and the Douglas Ridge Rifle Club in the Portland region. Registration is now open, but space at each range facility is limited, so new shooters are encouraged to register as quickly as possible to ensure their desired classroom and range time.
