NSSF Welcomes John Bocker
to Compliance and Store Security Teams
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that John Bocker has joined both the organization’s ATF Compliance Consultant and Store Security teams. Bocker is the founder and CEO of JB Group, LLC, a Denver-based risk management and security consulting firm.
Bocker brings with him a long and successful career in building strong teams committed to the organization’s overall risk management success, with a strong focus on evaluating empirical data, managing execution and prioritizing team goals. His specialties include strategic planning, risk assessment, asset protection, operational and compliance auditing, profit improvement and complex investigations. These areas were optimized during his executive leadership experience in various senior risk management and operational roles at Circuit City, Galyan’s, OfficeMax, Smashburger and Vail Resorts.
“We’re very pleased to have John as an addition to both of these vital teams,” said Patrick Shay, NSSF Director, Retail Development. “Demand for ATF compliance consultations continues to grow, and our new store security auditing program is quickly gaining in popularity with our retailers. John’s extensive experience will go a long way towards meeting the demands of our retailer support system.”
“I’m very excited to have the opportunity to share so much proven experience, knowledge and proactive advice with the NSSF community,” said Bocker. “Providing expertise and support to such a large organization in the areas of compliance execution, physical security, customer service, safety, loss prevention and risk reduction will be truly rewarding for me and beneficial for all members.”
NSSF provides a wide variety of compliance tools to its retail members. Among these are a 24/7 ATF question hotline and access to NSSF’s Compliance Consultant team members who can make onsite visits to perform mock ATF audits and improve employee training in preparation for an actual ATF audit. NSSF’s new Store Security Audit Program also provides for onsite consultation by experts in store security and loss prevention strategies, those visits geared toward assessing current security systems for vulnerabilities and advising on improvements.
