NSSF Interview with Game & Fish Magazine on Growing Participation

By now you should be familiar the term “R3,” as it has been a focus of state wildlife agencies, conservation organizations and trade groups for several years. With recruitment, retention and reactivation success stories abounding, firearm industry members from manufacturers and retailers to ranges and members of the outdoor media have been asking to learn more about how they can get involved and support R3 efforts.

NSSF’s Director of Research and Market Development, Jim Curcuruto, sat down with Game & Fish magazine’s Editorial Director Adam Heggenstaller and spoke about insights gained in R3 efforts and how NSSF is acting on the insights to grow participation. They discussed recent NSSF research, which quantifies that there are 24 million Americans interested in purchasing their first firearm and that these folks need information on how to get started, an invitation from someone they know and trust and an incentive to get them off the fence and into the field.

Success stories about NSSF partnering with groups like the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance on a mentoring campaign and piloting +ONESM learn-to-hunt campaigns with Ruger and SIG Sauer staff in conjunction with Quality Deer Management Association mentors can be heard in this 10-minute interview, along with a discussion about NSSF’s internal learn-to-hunt event. Land access and the future of a national marketing campaign are also topics covered,

Please visit NSSF’s website for a wide variety of R3-related research and contact Jim Curcuruto to learn more about how your company can assist in growing participation in hunting and target shooting.
