NSSF Celebrates Successful Conclusion of Gun Storage Check Week

WASHINGTON, D.C.— NSSF, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, celebrates the successful conclusion of Gun Storage Check Week® and thanks gun owners, retailers, firearm industry companies and law enforcement partners for their participation in this twice-a-year safety campaign. Throughout Gun Storage Check Week, millions of gun owners were reminded of the “Make Sure It’s Secure®” message to help prevent unwanted access to firearms.

“We thank gun owners, industry businesses and the law enforcement community for participating in Gun Storage Check Week’s ‘Make Sure It’s Secure’ messaging. This really is a community-wide effort, and is such an important topic and consideration for every gun owner,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “Safety is a habit. It’s something that gun owners can take pride in practicing and sharing year-round.”

Even though this national firearm safety awareness campaign has concluded, the conversation surrounding the secure storage of firearms is an ongoing effort. GunStorageCheck.org remains available as a trusted yearlong resource for gun owners, providing helpful information on firearm storage options to fit any use or lifestyle, as well as additional resources to promote safety in the home.

Gun Storage Check Week will return for its second annual observance during the first week of National Suicide Prevention Month, Sept. 1–7.
