Kutak Rock, LLP, Sponsors 2018 SHOT Show University at Bronze Level
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that Kutak Rock, LLP, will be returning as a Bronze-level sponsor for the 2018 SHOT Show University. Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Kutak Rock, LLP, is a national law firm with locations from coast to coast providing counsel on firearms, corporate law, litigation, intellectual property, environmental law and other areas.

Taking place Monday, Jan. 22, the day before the 2018 SHOT Show opens, SHOT Show University is NSSF’s premier learning experience for retailers and range owners, providing business owners of all experience levels ways to improve their businesses. The forum is comprised of four learning tracks: Range, Compliance, Retailer 101 (designed for more newly established FFLs) and the Master’s Class (created for more veteran firearms retailer owners). Attendees can participate in one complete track or select from sessions across any of the four to customize their experience. A wide variety of industry and business experts lead the various discussions, with topics that range from ATF inspection preparation and technology that drives customer engagement to NFA compliance, new media marketing techniques and how data collection and analysis can help small businesses thrive.
Kutak Rock will be presenting the session “Dealer Liability for Firearms-Related Injuries” as the opening presentation of the Retailer 101 track. During this session, attendees will gain a greater understanding of their liability for injuries resulting from a firearm or ammunition they’ve sold. Included will be an overview of the current statutes protecting dealers, as well as proposed local, state and federal legislation that can either help or adversely affect dealers. There will also be discussions of current case law involving dealers where dealer liability has been attempted, as well as ways every FFL today can minimize and manage the exposure and potential exposure for this type of litigation.
