Keffer and VanderWoude Pair up for Special SHOT Show University Presentation

With just six months to go before the 2017 SHOT Show, we’re busy finalizing plans for our premier educational forum, SHOT Show University. Just added to the schedule will be the session “Retail to Range—Adding a Range to Your Business” to be presented by two very knowledgeable people, Joe Keffer and Doug VanderWoude.

Joe Keffer is nearly legendary in the world of retail firearms. The owner for the last 22 years of the highly respected Sportsman’s Shop in New Holland, Pennsylvania, Keffer has long been a stalwart supporter of this industry, frequently partnering with NSSF on many projects and is a past member of our Retailer Advisory Council. In 2012 he was voted SHOT Business’ Retailer of the Year.

Doug VanderWoude is one of only a handful of industry leaders who rivals Keffer when it comes to industry knowledge and respect. He’s spent more than 32 years in the retail segment of the firearms industry, 29 of those face-to-face with the customer from his preferred spot behind the counter. A member of NSSF’s Range Advisory Council, VanderWoude today is also a respected range and retail consultant, having leant his services to nearly 200 facilities over the last several years, with a specialty in store traffic flow and profitability.

“Retail to Range—Adding a Range to Your Business” will explore how today’s modern firearms retailer can both enhance the customer experience for your store’s current customer base and capture an entirely new audience. The session will explore the required space, planning and operating costs, profit centers beyond just lane rental and memberships and marketing that merges the assets of both your retail and range businesses to maximize potential and profits.

The 2017 SHOT Show will be held January 17-20 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Room location for SHOT Show University will be announced at a later date. Registration to attend the 2017 SHOT Show and the full SHOT Show University agenda will be available early in Fall 2016.
