Hornady Contributes $250,000 to NSSF’s
2016 #GUNVOTE Voter Education Campaign

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that Hornady Manufacturing has joined NSSF’s #GUNVOTE Chairman’s Club, committing $250,000 in support of the association’s critical voter registration and education campaign. This is the largest donation the #GUNVOTE campaign has received to date.

In the years following World War II, Joyce Hornady, the son of a pastor and a lifelong shooter and hunter, realized that the vast amounts of surplus war ammunition so many sport shooters utilized at the time was subpar. Working on a surplus bullet assembly press in a rented garage in Grand Island, Nebraska, Hornady began producing high-quality .30-caliber 150-grain bullets. That now-famous Spire Point is still a favorite among shooters, but today it is just one among hundreds of innovative and technologically advanced ammunition, bullets and reloading tools the company produces. Following the company’s “Ten bullets through one hole” philosophy, those offerings include the LEVERevolution, Superformance, and Precision Hunter rifle cartridges, Critical Duty and TAP FPD handgun brands, V-Max, InterLock and FTX component bullets and specialty muzzleloader products, as well as metallic and shotshell reloading presses well-regarded by today’s modern handloaders.

“There are many companies in our industry that continually demonstrate their commitment to the success of the industry as a whole,” said Lawrence Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “But Hornady, with this tremendous and substantial donation, recognizes the unmistakable and unprecedented threats to our survival these elections represent. They are to be commended for their pledge to the one campaign we know can make a difference, #GUNVOTE.”

“For the first time in our nation’s history, we have a Presidential candidate who is openly running against the lawful commerce in firearms, which is a prerequisite to our ability to exercise our Second Amendment rights,” said Stephen Hornady, President, Hornady Manufacturing Company. “It is vital that America’s hunters, target shooters and all gun owners become educated on what the candidates are saying and that’s why the #GUNVOTE initiative of our industry is so important. Our company is proud to be a part of this cooperative effort.”

NSSF’s #GUNVOTE is a voter registration and education campaign platform for use by firearms industry manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers and media members, as well as the pro-Second Amendment consumer. #GUNVOTE — www.gunvote.org — provides vital information on the hundreds of pro-gun and anti-gun candidates up for election in 2016, as well as links to polling places and voter registration, election news, voter education video resources and more. Industry members are strongly encouraged to download the #GUNVOTE button for their websites and social media use and order #GUNVOTE decals for distribution to family, friends and customers.
