Costas’ Anti-gun Comments
In blogs and forums, firearms owners are venting their displeasure over anti-gun comments made by veteran sports announcer Bob Costas during halftime of NBC’s broadcast of the Cowboys-Eagles football game Sunday night. Costas used the prime-time forum to imply that gun control could have prevented Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Javon Belcher from fatally shooting his girlfriend and then himself the day before. In his uncalled-for commentary, Costas paraphrased sports columnist Jason Whitlock in blaming Belcher’s actions on “our current gun culture.” Costas was immediately criticized en masse on social media for making the comments.
