Firearms Industry manufacturers pay excise taxes that assist wildlife agencies with fieldwork
Since the late 1930s, hunters, target shooters and the firearms industry have been the nations LARGEST contributors to conservation, paying for programs that benefit America’s wildlife and all who love the outdoors. Firearms Industry manufacturers have paid nearly $12 billion in excise taxes, which are used by state wildlife agencies for several purposes.
This is one example of how these monies are spent to monitor black bear populations in Connecticut with a crew from Smith & Wesson and Thompson/Center Arms, as they assist the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection with fieldwork researching a black bear life cycle.
