2016 SHOT Show Retailer Seminar — From Boss to Leader

BizManonMtn

You’ve all probably heard more than a few husbands utter the saying “A happy wife makes a happy life.” Well, it’s kind of the same thing with business owners and employees. If your employees are happy, look forward to coming to work and work hard while they’re there to stay compliant with their paperwork, keep the store neat and provide excellent customer service, you have a winning formula for keeping store traffic high and profitable.

Throughout the year, when we’re visiting with retailers at compliance visits and during our Retailer Seminars held across the country, we’ve heard time and again from store owners and managers telling us they’re looking for better ways to motivate their employees and encourage their success in step with their store’s success. To address that desire, we created the “Leadership Development Forum,” one of the 18 Retailer Seminar sessions taking place during the 2016 SHOT Show. Working from the words of John Quincy, “If your actions inspire others to do more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader,” this special workshop will help retailers of all sizes and experience levels understand the qualities that take you from the role of just a “boss” to that of a leader. You’ll discover the qualities other industry leaders are looking for when they hire, and you’ll learn about ways to fine-tune the skills you already have and implement new processes that can invigorate your staff and produce a winning team.

Retailers from newly opened to veteran operators and from three-person staffs to big-box countrywide chains are encouraged to participate in this unique “Leadership Development Forum.” This special event will be moderated by four of the firearms industry’s most respected professionals: Marty Daniel (founder and CEO of Daniel Defense), Bill Kempfer (owner and president of Deep River Sporting Clays and Shooting School), Dr. Susan Houde-Walter (founder, CEO and chairman of the board of LaserMax), and Doreen Garrett (founder and chairman of the board of Otis Technology).

The 2016 SHOT Show Retailer Seminar “Leadership Development Forum” will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the Lando Ballroom, Room 4302 of the Venetian, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tickets are just $25 for both NSSF members and non-members. Seats are filling up fast, thanks to the impressive speaker lineup, and we encourage everyone to add this seminar to their 2016 SHOT Show schedule before this session sells out. To purchase tickets, log into your dashboard at shotshow.org after you’ve submitted your application to attend and add this event, along with any other you wish to attend, to your shopping cart.
