Outdoor Channel Returns as
SHOT Show Pinnacle Sponsor

Outdoor Channel | www.outdoorchannel.com

THIRD YEAR IN A ROW . . . For the third year in a row, Outdoor Channel, America's leader in outdoor TV, has committed to a Pinnacle-level sponsorship for NSSF's SHOT Show. Pinnacle is the highest sponsorship level associated with the event, which attracts more than 60,000 attendees and 1,600 companies exhibiting firearms, ammunition, outdoor apparel, law enforcement, optics, cutlery and related products and services, making it the largest show of its kind in the world. "This unprecedented support reflects the network's commitment to the outdoor industry and all that the industry's premier trade show stands for," said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Outdoor Channel's sponsorship includes being the official title sponsor of NSSF's State of the Industry Event; offering show attendees meet-and-greet access to the network's top talent; and providing on-site information and navigation stations for attendees on the show floor in addition to network marketing and advertising opportunities surrounding the show. Outdoor Channel's primary headquarters at SHOT Show will be in Bassano meeting rooms 2601-2505 in the Venetian Hotel adjoining the Sands Expo Convention Center. Outdoor Channel's booth will be in the Level 2 Sands Lobby. Read more.

Government Relations

  • SPORTSMEN'S ACT CLEARS MAJOR HURDLE, VOTE EXPECTED IN LAME DUCK . . . By an overwhelming bipartisan majority (84-7), the U.S. Senate early Saturday morning agreed to debate and vote on final passage of the Sportsmen's Act of 2012 (S.3525) as the first item of business after the November election. The package of bills includes the Hunting, Fishing and Recreational Shooting Protection Act (S.838), which would clarify that ammunition is excluded from regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency under the Toxic Substances Control Act. This legislation is strongly supported by NSSF and more than 40 of the nation's leading sportsmen and conservation groups. While we can now expect that a vote on the legislation will take place in the lame duck session, it is important to maintain momentum toward final passage. Call your U.S. senators at 202-224-3121, or send them an email and urge them to vote YES on final passage of the Sportsmen's Act and against any anti-sportsmen amendments. • NEW VIDEO: GUN CONTROL AND THE 2012 ELECTION . . . Is more gun-control legislation on the way? A new NSSF video highlights recent comments from elected officials on their desire to enact -- and re-enact -- failed gun-control legislation. One such quote is from White House Press Secretary Jay Carney: "The assault weapons ban is an issue the President has supported since its expiration in 2004." Please watch and forward this video.

  • RYAN: 'I AM HAPPY TO BE CLINGING TO MY GUNS AND MY RELIGION' . . . In reference to President Obama's 2008 comment about clinging to guns and religion, Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan recently took the statement as a challenge. In an interview with Deer & Deer Hunting magazine, Ryan outlined his credentials as an avid deer hunter, noting that, "From a guy who goes to St. John Vianney over there, whose tree stand is over about six miles that direction and that direction, this Catholic deer hunter is guilty as charged and proud of that."
