USA Today Ad Salutes Olympic Shooters

FULL-PAGE THANKS . . . On behalf of our industry and America's millions of recreational shooters, the National Shooting Sports Foundation ran a full-page ad congratulating the USA Shooting Team in Wednesday's edition of USA Today -- on the back page of the Sports section. Thanks to their remarkable -- not to mention historic -- performances at the Olympics in London, members of the USA Shooting Team helped draw more widespread attention to the shooting sports than in any other Olympic Games before. "NSSF is honored to be a sponsor of USA Shooting, and we are thrilled to draw even more attention with this ad to the fine men and women representing our sports on the world stage," said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice president and chief marketing officer. The ad congratulated all members of the team that competed in London and, particularly, the four athletes who earned three gold medals and one bronze. The ad's headline read: "Congratulations To All Our Shooters on the U.S. Olympic Team" and continued, "Making history, setting records, showing the world the fun and excitement of the shooting sports: You've made us proud!" Government Relations

  • ILION, N.Y., RESIDENTS WORRY ABOUT MORE FIREARMS LAWS . . . Remington Arms has been making firearms in the Mohawk Valley town of Ilion, N.Y., for almost 200 years. It is one of the few thriving companies left in what once was a regional beehive of manufacturing activity as a recent New York Times article points out. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has said he would urge adoption of additional regulation when lawmakers return to Albany for the 2013 legislative session. Residents and the legislators who represent them have expressed concern that more state laws regulating firearms, including microstamping, could drive jobs and possibly Remington itself out of New York.

  • RUMORS ABOUT GOVERNMENT AMMO PURCHASES . . . Rumors about the federal government purchasing large quantities of ammunition have made their inevitable journey from postings and blogs on various Internet sites two weeks ago to phone calls to conservative talk radio programs more recently. Read more on the NSSF Blog.

#gunvote

  • SHARE THIS VIDEO . . . Emphasising the importance of a single vote, NSSF has created a 30-second video encouraging firearms owners to vote. Without a word of narration, the message comes across loud and clear that one vote on the Supreme Court can sway the interpretation of federal law on firearms ownership--and that each person's single vote can help influence who will be in the position to fill Supreme Court justice openings. Do your part in making sure visitors to your website become educated voters. Feature the #gunvote button on your website and link it back to www.nssf.org/gunvote, share the #gunvote video with followers on social media and use this #gunvote cover image for your Facebook page.
