Several N.Y. Anti-Gun Bills Headed to State Senate

Several anti-gun bills, having already passed out of the NY State Assembly, are now headed to the NY State Senate Codes Committee. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) -- the trade association for the firearms industry -- is encouraging all sportsmen, gun owners and firearms enthusiasts to contact their state senator immediately and urge him/her to oppose these anti-gun and anti-small business bills.

Below is a list of the anti-gun / anti-small business bills now in the NY Senate Codes Committee:

Assembly Bill 6525A: This bill would require FFLs to have a minimum of $1,000,000 liability insurance. Additionally, AB6525A calls for new sales and reporting requirements for all NY firearms retailers. Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-88) is the sponsor.

Assembly Bill 7331: This bill would expand the ban on semi-automatic "assault weapons" and require the ballistic imaging (commonly and erroneously referred to as ballistic "fingerprinting") of all semi-automatic "assault weapons." The bill has been sponsored by Assemblyman Matthew Titone (D-61).

Assembly Bill 2772: This bill would ban the sale, use or possession of any rifle chambered .50 caliber or larger. This bill would require gun-owners in possession of these firearms to surrender them to state authorities. This bill has been sponsored by Assemblywoman Patricia Eddington (D-3).

Assembly Bill 829: This bill would prohibit the sale of any handgun that doesn't contain a childproofing device or mechanism incorporated into the design of the handgun. It has been sponsored by Assemblyman Steve Englebright (D-4).

Assembly Bill 9819A: This bill would mandate the flawed technology of firearms microstamping and ban the sale of any semi-automatic handgun not equipped with "microstamping" technology. This bill has been sponsored by Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel (D-16).

Assembly Bill 3447: This bill would ban the sale or possession of frangible ammunition. AB3447 has been introduced by State Assemblyman David Koon (D-135).

Assembly Bill 76: This bill would require the mandatory "safe" storage of all firearms. AB76 has been sponsored by Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-20).

Assembly Bill 3451: This bill would expand the ballistic imaging program in New York – a program that has cost New York taxpayers tens of millions of dollars and is "credited" with solving no crimes. This bill has been introduced by State Assemblyman David Koon (D-135).

These bills will have no impact on crime and only serve to hurt law-abiding citizens and businessmen in the Empire State. Please contact your State Senator immediately and respectfully urge him or her to oppose these dangerous bills.
