Job Details for (Tool Designer)

Description:
Essential duties and responsibilities: Design tools, fixtures and gages for high volume firearm production. Work with Manufacturing Engineers to complete design projects for the following processes: o CNC machining fixtures o Assembly tools and fixtures o Welding fixtures o Assembly equipment o Metal finishing and marking fixtures Prepare detailed drawings using isometric projections, section views, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Complete detailed assembly drawings and bill of materials for all design projects. Work closely with the tool room and outside suppliers to procure hardware, coordinate the build and debug of design projects per established timelines. Work with Quality Engineers to interpret product drawings and GD&T to design functional and variable gages. Check tool and gage design drawings for accuracy. Follow plant procedures for storage of electronic and hard copy files.

Experience/Skill Requirements:
High proficiency with Solidworks or similar CAD system Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes Working knowledge of GD&T ASME Y14.5.

Education/Training Requirements:
AS Degree in Mechanical of Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience or 10+ years of experience without degree.
