National Wild Turkey Federation to
Celebrate Sporting Traditions, Conservation
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) has again
stepped forward as a major sponsor of National Hunting and Fishing Day,
the Congress-endorsed annual celebration of hunters, anglers and
conservation.
This year's commemoration is set for Sept. 27.
NWTF's sponsorship provides vital support for Wonders of Wildlife
museum, the official home and national organizer of National Hunting and
Fishing Day. The Springfield, Mo., facility is the only hunting- and
fishing-focused museum that's both affiliated with the Smithsonian
Institution and accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.
"Since National Hunting and Fishing Day was founded 37 years ago,
there's never been a better or more important tool for helping the
public understand the conservation benefits of traditional outdoor
sports. We've been a part of it for many years. We're proud to be a part
of it again in 2008," said Rob Keck, CEO for NWTF.
Wonders of Wildlife also receives major sponsorship from the National
Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), Bass Pro Shops and The Sportsman
Channel.
"With NSSF, Bass Pro Shops, The Sportsman Channel and NWTF, we have the
nucleus of a powerful, growing alliance to make National Hunting and
Fishing Day even more vibrant and effective than ever before," said
Denise Wagner, event coordinator for Wonders of Wildlife.
Today, through fees and excise taxes, over 34 million hunters and
anglers generate $100,000 every 30 minutes for fish, wildlife and
habitat programs.
