Junior USA Shooting Team Patch Program
Information for Adult Leaders
Incorporate shooting basics into your youth program. Here's
some tips to help get started:
-
Beginning shooters must be supervised by a qualified adult — parent,
Scout leader, camp director or firearms instructor at a shooting
range.
-
Call ahead to your local range, making sure it has
the facilities you need for your activity.
-
If you are not familiar with local ranges, find a range near
you at www.wheretoshoot.org.
-
The shotgunning challenge requires a trap or skeet field.
-
Schedule your outing.
-
Prepare your group by reviewing rules
of firearms safety.
-
Arrange to have a qualified instructor direct your group. The
range can provide an instructor if you can not provide one on
your own.
-
If your group wants to continue shooting, find out
about the National Shooting Sports Foundation's Scholastic
Shooting Programs.
- Leaders may submit any standard score sheet for skeet. For trap,
use the program's official trap score sheet.
