About The Hunting Heritage Partnership and Its Purpose
Access for Today. Opportunities for TomorrowThe Gateway to Promoting America's Hunting HeritageThe future of hunting is dependent on greater hunter access, increased hunting opportunities for current hunters and the recruitment of next-generation hunters. The Hunting Heritage Partnership believes that the "gateway" to securing America's hunting heritage is through today's state wildlife agencies. Unique Initiatives EncouragedThe Hunting Heritage Partnership recognizes that a variety of factors may impact hunting opportunities from state to state. HHP encourages the development of programs that are uniquely tailored to a state's specific needs. Through the HHP grant process, states can request the funds needed to develop a wide range of initiatives that promote hunting participation at the grassroots level. A Wide Range of Programs Are EligibleHunting Heritage Partnership grants are awarded to a wide range of hunter-related state programs, such as programs designed to increase hunter access, retention or recruitment programs that expand opportunities to hunt; and communications programs geared toward retaining and recruiting hunters. Grant TimelineThe deadline for submitting grant proposals to NSSF is early spring. NSSF will notify grant recipients within two months following the deadline date. Priority consideration is given to projects completed by March 1 of the year following signing of the official grant documentation.
