Grants

The Partnership.
The Hunting Heritage Partnership is a program designed
to build a strong partnership between the National Shooting Sports Foundation,
the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation and state wildlife agencies by
providing funding to state wildlife agencies to create greater hunting
opportunities and put more hunters in the field. As it has done for the past two years, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has again awarded nearly a half-million dollars in grants to help state agencies expand hunting opportunities.
Promoting and preserving the sport.
The future of hunting depends heavily on a combination of greater hunter
access, increased opportunities for current hunters, and the recruitment
of next generation hunters. We recognize that today's wildlife agencies
are a key "gateway" in expanding hunting opportunities. The NSSF®
and CSF believe this program is an important first step in securing America's
hunting heritage.
One Size Does Not Fit All.
The Hunting Heritage Partnership recognizes that factors impacting
hunting opportunity often vary considerably from state to state. With
this in mind, our grant system has been established to encourage programs
uniquely tailored to a state's specific needs. Through this funding process,
states will now have the opportunity to request much needed dollars for
important initiatives that will promote hunting participation at the grass
roots level.
A wide variety of programs apply.
The Hunting Heritage Partnership allows funding to be granted for a
range of hunter related programs - increasing hunter access, hunter retention,
hunter recruitment, programs that create more opportunities to hunt and
even communications programs geared towards retaining or recruiting hunters.
Grant timeline.
The deadline for submitting proposals normally falls in early Spring
and NSSF will notify grant recipients within two months following the
deadline. Priority consideration is given to projects that will
be completed by March 1st of the year following signing
of the official grant documentation.
