Ed is now a Wildlife Biologist and the State Hunting Coordinator for the Hawaii Division of Forestry and Wildlife. He is a Board Member of The Wildlife Society-Hawaii Chapter and Co-Chairman of its Conservation Committee, founder and President of Eco-Communications International, and a member of the Honolulu Mayor's Advisory Committee on Bicycling.
Ed was out hunting with his father about the same time he learned to walk. The larder was stocked with food from the family farm and garden, but also with deer and antelope, ducks and geese, pheasants, quail, and chukars. Johnson received a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Biology from the University of Oregon Honors College, an M.A. in Sociology from the University of New York at Buffalo, and an M.S. in Wildlife Science from New Mexico State University.
Mr. Johnson has over 30 years experience with natural resource issues and problems, on interdisciplinary projects throughout the mainland U.S., Central America, and Hawaii. He continues to wrestle with access to public hunting areas in Hawaii as one of Forestry and Wildlife's top priorities.
