About the Shooting Sports Summit - a letter from Steve Sanetti

Dear Fellow Attendee:

I've had the good fortune to have attended all the previous NSSF Shooting Sports Summits held since 1996, and I've always been impressed with the zeal and enthusiasm shown by the hundreds of participants.

The give and take in the breakout sessions, and the free flow of ideas to improve participation in the shooting sports we love, has had genuine results in creating some of the most successful programs NSSF has ever undertaken.

"STEP OUTSIDE," "Project ChildSafe" (originally Project HomeSafe), and "Where to Shoot" are just a few such programs. Their diversity demonstrates the wide-ranging ideas that have been kicked about at prior Summits, and your challenge is to come up with even more.

Indeed, NSSF's tagline is "Always Shooting for More." If we don't put our best minds together and plan ways to help share our passion for the shooting sports, we are doomed to a slow death by atrophy.

Somewhere out there, in our collective minds, perhaps sparked by an impromptu idea encouraged by a speaker or in a lively breakout session, likely lurks our next "big idea." It's going to come from all of us, thinking together, and it's going to be a real winner.

So I welcome you all, and urge you to participate thoughtfully and hold nothing back. Sometimes it takes a pretty substantial slug to penetrate through a tough old hide!

Let's have the best Summit yet,

Steve Sanetti
President, NSSF
